Coco Gauff will be searching for a second WTA Finals title in succession in Riyadh. She returned to form during the Asian swing. The world number three was unable to retain her title in Beijing but still reached the semi-finals. Gauff would then compete in Wuhan and did not drop a set on her to winning the event. Nevertheless, Pegula does have three titles to her name in 2025, with all being on different surfaces.
Pegula leads the head-to-head 4-3 but Gauff has won their only indoor match. That took place in the group stage of this event in Riyadh last year. They also faced each other in the semi-finals in 2023, with Pegula winning on that occasion.
