Coco Gauff vs Belinda Bencic Prediction

Coco Gauff continued her serene progress in Melbourne with a dominant 6-4, 6-2 victory over Canadian seed Leylah Fernandez in the third round, the American winning an impressive 89% of points behind her first serve.

It is the third year in a row that Gauff has reached at least the round of 16 at the Australian Open, but having now won her last 12 Singles contests, she will surely be setting her sights on a second Grand Slam title of her career.

The number three seed must first navigate her way past a relatively fresh Belinda Bencic though, with the Swiss star only needing to play one set against Naomi Osaka in her own third-round contest. After losing the first set on a tie-break, an injured Osaka was forced to forfeit the match, resulting in a last 16-spot for Bencic in her first Grand Slam tournament since 2023.

That is quite an achievement for Bencic, who barely featured in 2024 due to the birth of her daughter. She is yet to face an opponent of the calibre of Gauff in Melbourne though, and it is hard to look beyond the American progressing to the last eight via a straight-sets win.

Coco Gauff vs Belinda Bencic Tip: Coco Gauff to win 2-0
