Coco Gauff vs Anastasia Potapova prediction
Coco Gauff continued her title defence with a straight sets win over Mayar Sherif.
The American was made to work harder than the 6-3 6-2 scoreline suggested against the Egyptian and will need to find another gear when she takes on the Austrian 28th seed for a fifth time.
Potapova ended British hopes with a three-set victory over Katie Boulter, but she has shown real pedigree on the dirt this year, notably reaching the last four in Madrid.
The Austrian has also won her last two encounters with Gauff, including a 6-2 6-3 success on Stuttgart clay three years ago.
The head-to-head stands at 2-2 but that is their only previous meeting on this surface and that offers a warning that this could be tricky for the defending champion.
Potapova is playing some confident, aggressive tennis right now and while we feel it is perhaps unwise to back against Coco’s never-say-die spirit, we do think there is value in tipping Anastasia to at least win a set.
