Clara Tauson vs Polina Kudermetova prediction

Clara Tauson’s frustrating season continued at the US Open last time out, as she lost in the first-round to Sloane Stephens in straight sets. The Dane was inside the top 15 in the world back in February, before injuries and inconsistent results contributed to her slide down the rankings. Her best tour-level result was a semi-final appearance in Abu Dhabi, and she also advanced to the last eight in Dubai. However, she has failed to reach the same heights since her campaign was interrupted by back and shoulder problems during the spring.

She is still seeded for this event, and Polina Kudermetova will be her second-round opponent. Kudermetova picked up her third tour-level victory of the season after coming from a set down to beat Yexin Ma. The Chinese wildcard took the first set on a tiebreak, but Kudermetova recovered to win 6-7 (2) 6-3 6-2.

Tauson leads the head-to-head after a three set win at the Australian Open this year. If fit, she has enough firepower to get the job done.
