Clara Tauson vs Iga Swiatek prediction
Clara Tauson has been impressive in her opening two matches so far in Montreal dominating both Lucia Bronzetti and then Yuliia Staroubtseva. In the two matches, she has lost a total of just six games combined such has been her dominance and she has been playing at a high level.
She now comes into a clash against second-seed Iga Swiatek which is comfortably the toughest test both players will have had.
Swiatek has been just as dominant herself winning both her matches against Guo Hanyu and then Eva Lys dropping just eight games in total across the two matches.
This has always been a tournament that has alluded the prolific Swiatek in terms of lifting the trophy so it would be no surprise if she goes all out this week to go all the way. For Tauson, she has never won a match in the event prior to this year so she has already recorded her best-ever finish here.
The pair have met twice before with their most recent match-up coming at Wimbledon several weeks ago. Swiatek dominated that match 6-4 6-1, while she also won the previous match over three sets back in 2022.
Swiatek is the preference here given how focused she is looking. Tauson is playing well but this is a major step up for her and we just think Swiatek will take control and be the one to progress to the quarters.
