Clara Burel vs Elsa Jacquemot prediction

Elsa Jacquemot will meet Clara Burel in an all-French showdown for a place in the last eight in Romania.

The eighth seed, Jacquemot was solid throughout as she ended home hope Ilinca Amariei’s dreams with a 6-4 7-6 win. 

Burel had to hit the comeback trail to outlast 40-year-old American Varvara Lepchenko 2-6 7-5 6-3.

The head-to-head makes for interesting reading with world number 630 Burel leading 7-1, winning all three matches played on clay. 

Jacquemot may well be way better off in the rankings at 107 but there will be scar damage from such a one-sided match-up and it’s well worth the punt on the outsider based on that.
