Claire Liu vs Ella Seidel prediction

Claire Liu continued her best run at a WTA tournament this year as she defeated Anna Bondar to make the quarter-finals. The American has now won four straight matches, stretching back to the qualifying rounds. Liu defeated Alexandra Eala in round one after coming from a set down but this was more straight-forward as she won 6-3 6-4 to record her second straight win over an opponent inside the top 80 of the world rankings.

She now faces Ella Seidel in the last eight. The 20-year-old produced a brilliant performance to beat Yulia Putintseva in the round-of-16. Seidel did not even face a point as she won 6-3 6-2 against the sixth seed after just an hour and four minutes. She is into her third WTA quarter-final of the season but has never gone beyond that stage before.

Seidel will be desperate to break new ground with a semi-final appearance. Her game looked in fantastic shape against Putintseva and a similar display should be enough to get past Liu.
