Caty McNally vs Elena Rybakina prediction
Caty McNally won a main draw match at Wimbledon for the second time, and second year in succession, with a hard-fought 7-5, 6-3 victory over Elena-Gabriela Ruse.
The American had enjoyed a couple of decent results in the grass-court swing leading up to Wimbledon, but she will have to raise her game significantly if she is to lay a glove on her opponent here.
Having said that, world number two Elena Rybakina did suffer a second-set wobble in her opener against Lois Boisson, but she re-composed herself to eventually come through 6-4, 1-6, 6-3.
Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon champion and a three-time quarter-finalist at SW19, did not play her best tennis in preparation for Wimbledon and there does look to be one or two vulnerabilities in her game right now.
If the second seed brings her A-game then there is only one winner, but we think McNally is capable of making the scoreline competitive.
