Casper Ruud is the fourth seed at Indian Wells and the Norwegian will be hoping he can find some form this week. His preparations for the tournament were dealt a blow after he was forced to withdraw from the Mexican open due to a stomach bug which was going round the dressing room. Ruud was not happy at all and it will be interesting to see how sharp he is especially early in this match.
He takes on Marcos Giron who has been playing some pretty good tennis in the last few weeks. The American reached the quarter finals in his last two events in Delray Beach and the Mexican Open.
Giron has some good momentum coming into this tournament and he did well to beat Nicoloz Basilashvili 7-5 7-6 in the first round.
Ruud and Giron have met three times before and Ruud leads the head-to-head 2-1. Ruud won the last of the three encounters which came last year 6-1 6-0 and all three meetings have been decided in straight sets regardless of who won the match.
