Casper Ruud vs Daniil Medvedev prediction

Casper Ruud will have to end his Daniil Medvedev hoodoo if he’s to reach only the second Madrid semi-final of his career. 

The Norwegian is into his second straight quarter-final after making the same stage at Barcelona.

The two-time French Open runner-up produced a classy display to defeat third seed Taylor Fritz 7-5 6-4 and will now bid for a first win over Medvedev at the fourth time of asking. 

Notably, none of the previous three were played on clay which is clearly Ruud’s favourite surface and one the Russian has repeatedly expressed a disdain for. 

Medvedev was superb in his 3-6 6-1 6-4 comeback success over Brandon Nakashima, but in these conditions Ruud should have the winning hand if his forehand continues to purr.
