Carson Branstine vs Elena-Gabriela Ruse prediction

Carson Branstine pulled off a stunning shock on her WTA Tour debut as she beat number one seed and defending champion Liudmila Samsonova in the first-round. The inexperienced Canadian qualifier was playing a top 50 opponent for the first time and came through to win 6-4 5-7 6-1 in a match which was completed over two days after bad light had paused the match at one set all.

Branstine now takes on Elena- Gabriela Ruse in the next round. The Romanian enjoyed a very comfortable first-round encounter as she blitzed past Isis-Louise Van den Broek 6-2 6-1 without the loss of her serve. 

Ruse has won all three of her matches this week, including qualifying, with the loss of just three service games in each. She’s made a fine start to her grass court preparations and we predict that she’ll make it through to the quarter-finals with a fourth successive victory in straight sets.
