Caroline Garcia vs Karolina Muchova prediction
Caroline Garcia defeated Great Britain’s Sonay Kartal in three sets to advance to round two of the Cincinnati Open. The 31-year-old and former world number four announced her intention to retire at some point this season. She came from a set down here, with the 2022 champion winning 5-7 6-4 6-3.
She will now go up against Karolina Muchova. Muchova, who made the final of this tournament in 2023, is coming off the back of a fourth-round appearance in Montreal. She was on the end of a tough three set defeat to Australian Open champion Madison Keys, but it was a return to form of sorts for the Czech, who was out of action earlier this year due to injury. Muchova has reached the semi-final of three events this season but the last one took place in Abu Dhabi all the way back in February.
Garcia is unpredictable, even during her retirement tour, but Muchova possesses such a strong all-court game on this surface and will be expected to come out on top.
