Carole Monnet vs Sloane Stephens prediction

Carole Monnet already has two matches under belt in Guadalajara after advancing through qualifying. The Frenchwoman opened with a straight sets win over Julia Garcia Ruiz before surviving a much tougher test against Katrina Scott, coming through with the victory after a deciding set. Those wins were needed after Monnet lost 6-4 7-6 to Anouk Koevermans in the opening round of US Open qualifying. The 24-year-old has spent much of 2026 competing at WTA 125 and ITF level and has struggled for consistency on hard courts.

She will face Sloane Stephens in round one. The 2017 US Open champion received a wildcard. Stephens did show some encouraging signs during the North American hard court swing. She produced an excellent performance to beat Clara Tauson in the first-round at Flushing Meadows, before a loss to Marta Kostyuk. Stephens also recorded straight set victories over Sinja Kraus and Anastasia Potapova in Cincinnati, before again losing to Kostyuk.

Monnet is already accustomed to the conditions, but Stephens possesses considerably greater experience and has produced the stronger recent results against higher level opposition.
