Carlos Taberner vs Sebastian Baez prediction
Carlos Taberner will be making his first appearance for nearly a month, having not featured since his straight sets loss to Lorenzo Sonego in the first-round of the Australian Open. He was also defeated by Alexander Shevchenko in qualifying for the Adelaide International, so the Spaniard is still looking for his first victory of the season.
He has a tough task in round one as he faces two-time defending champion Sebastian Baez. The Argentine has made a strong start to the season, with a final in Auckland followed up by a semi-final in Buenos Aires last week. Baez was unable to make the final of his home event, as he lost to Luciano Darderi in straight sets.
Baez has been performing strongly over these past few weeks, and he should have too much quality for Taberner as he aims to win the title for a third year in a row.
Carlos Taberner vs Sebastian Baez tip: Sebastian Baez to win 2-0
