Carlos Alcaraz vs Reilly Opelka prediction
Despite the disappointment of not winning a third Wimbledon title in a row, Carlos Alcaraz made a winning return to the tour as he claimed the title in Cincinnati for the first time in his career. He won the event after rival Jannik Sinner withdrew from the match due to illness with the Spaniard already 5-0 up. Alcaraz has six titles to his name this season and has a win-loss record of 39-2 since the start of April.
He will face Reilly Opelka in the first-round. Opelka’s best result of the season remains a runner up finish in Brisbane right at the start of the year. However, his performances in both summer Masters events were decent, with third-round finishes in Toronto and Cincinnati. This included a fine victory in round two over Alex de Minaur in the latter event.
Opelka’s game centres around his strong serve and he will certainly test the Spaniard for at least one set. Alcaraz can start matches slowly, but his return game is one of the strongest on tour and he should come through this in straight sets.
