Carlos Alcaraz vs Jiri Lehecka Prediction

Top seed Carlos Alcaraz will be delighted to have made it through to the quarter-finals in Doha but the Spaniard has not been at his best so far in the Qatari capital.

He got past Marin Cilic in the first round and then laboured to a three-set win against Luca Nardi on Wednesday in the round of 16. His all-round game is solid but he is lacking the intensity across the matches which is allowing his opponents to be competitive right now. That will be something he hopes to remedy as the tournament reaches the business end.

He now meets Jiri Lehecka in what promises to be a high-quality affair. The Czech star has not been slow off the mark himself and he has looked strong in straight-sets wins over Grigor Dimitrov and Fabian Marozsan.

They have met once before on grass which Alcaraz won back in 2023 but Lehecka has come on leaps and bounds since then.

We like Lehecka’s chances of pushing Alcaraz all the way here. Even if it does no go three sets, we expect long sets with plenty of games. Consider the overs with Alcaraz marginally favoured but we would not rule out the upset here.
