Carlos Alcaraz vs Jaume Munar prediction

Carlos Alcaraz made a winning start on grass in his first match since claiming a second French Open title and fifth major overall. The Spaniard was forced to dig deep at times, even saving two set points in set two, but came through to win 6-4 7-6 against lucky loser Adam Walton. It was a strong serving performance from the world number two, who won 86% of his first serve points in total.

He now goes up against Jaume Munar for a place in the last eight. Munar advanced to the next round due to Jordan Thompson’s withdrawal midway through their first-round match. The Spaniard had just taken the first set 7-5. 

This will be their first meeting on grass, but they’ve played each other three times before. All matches have taken place on clay, with Alcaraz winning their two most recent encounters in Rio and Barcelona while Munar beat a then 17-year-old Alcaraz in the semi-finals of the 2021 Andalucia Open.

Alcaraz will be more comfortable on the grass with a match now under his belt and we think a dominant win over Munar is on the cards here.
