Carlos Alcaraz vs Cameron Norrie prediction

World number Carlos Alcaraz makes his return to the tour in Paris as he seeks to win the event for the first time in his career. The Spaniard sustained an ankle injury in Tokyo but still went on to win the event, though he then withdrew from the Masters event in Shanghai. He has since competed at the Six King’s Slam, losing in the final to Jannik Sinner, but this will be Alcaraz’s first competitive match in a month. It’s been the best season of the 22-year-old’s career, with two Grand Slams and eight titles overall, while he has returned to the summit in the world rankings.

Cameron Norrie is his opponent in the second-round. The Briton was always in control of his round one match against Sebastian Baez, winning 6-3 6-4 after an hour and 24 minutes.

This will be the eighth meeting between the pair and Alcaraz leads the head-to-head 5-2. They played each other for the first time in over two years in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon, with the Spaniard racing to a 6-2 6-3 6-3 win. Alcaraz is the overwhelming favourite, but there’s still a chance that Norrie’s attritional style of play frustrates him for at least a set here.
