He now takes on defending champion Andrey Rublev. The Russian advanced to his second semi-final of the season after getting past Stefanos Tsitsipas. He has now won eight straight matches at the tournament.
Alcaraz leads the head-to-head 4-1 and has won their last three meetings. Their last match saw the Spaniard win a close three set encounter in Cincinnati last year. He is likely to be tested once again by Rublev, whose game matches up well with the conditions in Doha.
