Carlos Alcaraz is seeking his first ATP Finals title after losing the world number one spot to Jannik Sinner last week following the Italian’s victory at the Paris Masters. Alcaraz suffered a shock second-round loss to Cameron Norrie at the event and will hope to get things back on track with a victory in his first group stage match against Alex de Minaur. The Spaniard will clinch the year end world number spot if he wins three matches here.

Alex de Minaur competes at the event for the second year running. He continued his consistent form with a quarter-final appearance in Paris last time out, though he would have been disappointed by his close three set loss to Alexander Bublik. 

Alcaraz leads the head-to-head 4-0 and 1-0 indoors, having beaten De Minaur in the final of the Rotterdam Open earlier this year in three sets. He is likely to have regained his focus after that blip in Paris and should put in a much better performance this time around. The Australian is a tough opponent but Alcaraz enjoys a spotless record against him and knows that the year end number one spot is in his hands.
