Camilo Ugo Carabelli vs Felix Auger-Aliassime prediction

Camilo Ugo Carabelli ended a four-match losing run in his opening match at the Shanghai Masters, coming from a set down to beat Ilia Simakin. The Argentine was also 3-1 down in the decider but fought back to win 2-6 6-2 7-5 after two hours and 23 minutes. That was Ugo Carabelli’s fourth victory on a hard court in 2026.

He faces Felix Auger-Aliassime next. The Canadian’s poor form continued at the China Open last week, losing in the first-round to Karen Khachanov. Auger-Aliassime has largely struggled for consistent results since his epic Wimbledon quarter-final defeat to Novak Djokovic. Despite being ranked number six in the world, the 25-year-old faces an uphill battle to qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin. 

Auger-Aliassime leads the head-to-head 1-0 after a dominant win at the French Open in 2022. Despite his recent struggles, this represents a favourable opening match for the Canadian, who will be the overwhelming favourite to come through.
