Camilo Ugo Carabelli advanced to the round two at Roland Garros as he beat Emilio Nava in straight sets. A mammoth first set went all the way to a tiebreak, with the Argentine crucially saving three set points before converting one of his own. It was straight-forward after that as Ugo Carabelli won 7-6 (10) 6-3 6-3.

He now takes on Andrey Rublev. The two-time French Open quarter-finalist was pushed by Ignacio Buse in his first-round match but still came through in four sets. Buse, who won the Hamburg Open last week, appeared to be taking control of the contest after claiming the second set and later serving for a two-sets-to-one lead in the third. However, Rublev regrouped to win 6-3 6-7 (6) 6-3 7-5.

Rublev was vulnerable at times in round one, and he could find it tough against Ugo Carabelli, who can be a dangerous player on this surface. Nevertheless, he is still a firm favourite to advance.
