Camilo Ugo Carabelli made it through to the second-round of the Paris Masters after defeating Tomas Martin Etcheverry in straight sets. He had lost his last three previous matches but this was a fine display from the Argentine, who created 11 break point opportunities and broke three times. He won 7-5 6-3.

Alexander Zverev is his opponent. The world number three begins the defence of his Paris Masters title after winning the tournament last year. He came back into form in Vienna as he got through to the final and put in a strong display against Jannik Sinner, though he still ended up on the losing side despite going up a set.

They played each other for the first time earlier in the season, with Zverev thrashing Ugo Carabelli 6-2 6-1 in the second-round of the Italian Open. The German is a firm favourite to wrap up a victory in similar fashion.
