Camila Osorio is picking up results at the moment, as she prepares for the Merida Open. She won the Philippine Women’s Open earlier this month and followed that up with a run from qualifying to the third-round in Dubai. Osorio has won nine of her last 10 matches, and she will be confident of her chances against Janice Tjen.
Tjen is the sixth seed in Merida. She also reached the third-round in Dubai, which is her best result of the season so far. She defeated Beatriz Haddad Maia and Leylah Fernandez, before a loss to two-time Grand Slam finalist Amanda Anisimova. Tjen is still ranked inside the top 40 in the world rankings.
Osorio is the lower ranked player but should be confident of pulling off an upset against Tjen, whose results have been mixed so far in this campaign. She seems to be encountering some problems with finding consistency on the tour, and she could be under pressure in the early stages if Osorio finds her range and strikes first.
