Cameron Norrie advanced to his first semi-final of the season as he thrashed Bernard Tomic at the Los Cabos Open. The 30-year-old only dropped the opening game of the match as he won 6-1 6-0 after just 50 minutes on court. The 2021 champion is two matches away from a second title at the event.
He will have to get past defending champion Denis Shapovalov next as the Canadian beat Dalibor Svrcina in straight sets. Shapovalov overcame a slight wobble from 5-1 up to take the first set, before racing clear in the second to complete a 6-4 6-2 win. He extended his winning streak at the event to eight matches, and he is into his first semi-final since the Dallas Open back in February.
Norrie leads the head-to-head 2-0 and is yet to drop a set to Shapovalov. The 27-year-old has an incredibly strong record at the event, but he cannot afford to leak too many unforced errors against the consistency of Norrie. The former British number one has found form again after a tough run.
