Cameron Norrie vs Andrey Rublev prediction
Despite a strong season, Cameron Norrie is not in the best of form as he has lost three of his last four matches. He did not enjoy a successful Asian swing, with early losses in Chengdu, Beijing and Shanghai. Nevertheless, it’s been a really encouraging season for the former Indian Wells champion, as he achieved his best ever result at Roland Garros and reached the quarter-finals of Wimbledon. He was ranked 90 in the world in May but is now up to 33.
Andrey Rublev is his first-round opponent. The Russian desperately needs a win, having lost his last four matches overall. Rublev enjoyed a strong summer on hard courts in North America, making the quarter-finals in Toronto and Cincinnati before getting through to the round-of-16 at the US Open, but he was unable to register a victory in Asia.
Rublev leads the head-to-head 3-2 and 1-0 on indoor hard court. This should be a good tournament for the Russian to reset and find his best form. His powerful groundstrokes will allow him to dictate much of the rallies against a passive Norrie in the indoor conditions.
