Bu Yunchaokete vs Casper Ruud prediction

Bu Yunchaokete continued his encouraging run of form with a straight sets win over Luca Van Assche in the first-round of the Shanghai Masters. Remarkably, Bu won 37 of his 38 points on first serve, coming through to win 7-6 (3) 6-3 after an hour and 43 minutes. He advanced to the quarter-finals in Hangzhou and pushed Novak Djokovic to a deciding set in their battle at the China Open last week.

His opponent is three-time Grand Slam finalist Casper Ruud. The Norwegian’s Asian swing began poorly as he lost in the first-round to Luciano Darderi in Tokyo. Ruud is still in the early stages of his return to the tour, following a back injury that kept him out of the US Open back in late August. 

Bu has already proven himself against top-level opposition over the last six weeks, with his three set match against Djokovic preceded by a thumping victory over Rafael Jodar at Flushing Meadows. Despite Ruud’s tour-level experience and far greater pedigree, this is a tough opener for the 27-year-old.
