Brandon Nakashima vs Jack Pinnington Jones prediction

Brandon Nakashima looked on course for his second final of the season as he advanced to the last four of Queen’s Club without dropping a set. He was a set and a break up against Francisco Cerundolo, but the Argentine recovered to win in three. That would have been a blow for Nakashima, as he had shown his quality in the quarter-finals by defeating top seed Alex de Minaur.

His first-round opponent is Jack Pinnington Jones. The Brit was two points away from beating Denis Shapovalov on the opening day of Queen’s as he served for the match, but he failed to close it out, with the Canadian winning in the deciding tiebreak. He then competed at Eastbourne, winning his first-round match against Marco Trungelliti before a loss to compatriot Jack Draper.

Nakashima can struggle to maintain his level during best of five set matches, which could provide some encouragement for Pinnington Jones, who also has home support on his side. The American is a firm favourite, but he is likely to be challenged in this first-round match.
