Brandon Nakashima vs Hamad Medjedovic prediction
There were positives for Brandon Nakashima to take from the Asian leg of the ATP season. He began in Chengdu, where he would make the last four before a surprise defeat to Alejandro Tabilo, though the Chilean went on to win the event. He then backed that up with a quarter-final finish in Tokyo, losing to an inspired Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets. Nakashima could not sustain that level in Shanghai as he lost in the early stages of the tournament against Kamil Majchrzak in straight sets. He's still been very consistent on the tour, with three semi-finals and a further five quarter-finals.
Hamad Medjedovic will be his opponent in Almaty. He was unable to pick up a victory in Asia as he lost to Holger Rune in Tokyo and was then forced to retire against Arthur Rinderknech despite taking the first set on a tiebreak. That was thoroughly impressive from the Serb, considering that Rinderknech would go on to make the final of the tournament.
He leads the head-to-head 1-0 against Nakashima, having beaten him in Belgrade last year. This is a fine opportunity for the higher ranked American to register a win of his own.
