Brandon Nakashima vs Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard prediction
Brandon Nakashima managed to pick up a couple of victories in his first grass court event of the year. He defeated Great Britain’s Jacob Fearnley in the first-round of the Stuttgart Open and then booked a place in the last eight after beating compatriot Learner Tien. Unfortunately for the American, he could not find a way to create chances on Alexander Zverev’s serve, failing to break and going on to lose in straight sets.
Giovanni Mpetshi also competed in Stuttgart but lost in the second-round to Felix Auger-Aliassime. He did pull of a shock at this very event in the first-round last year after he defeated Ben Shelton, and has already shown how good a player he can be on the surface with a run to the fourth-round of Wimbledon last year despite only entering the main draw as a lucky loser.
Mpetshi Perricard will always be a dangerous player on this surface with his big serve and ability to win a number of free points. Nakashima is a strong competitor and likely to be able to dominate the majority of the longer rallies between the pair. There’s just four places separating them in the world rankings and no clear favourite.
