Brandon Nakashima vs Fabian Marozsan prediction
Brandon Nakashima began his Almaty Open campaign in relatively straight-forward fashion as he defeated Hamad Medjedovic in straight sets. He edged ahead after winning the first set tiebreak and then broke the Medjedovic serve on two occasions to win 7-6 6-2. The American was not broken on serve and is now just one match away from a ninth quarter-final of the season.
He will play Fabian Marozsan in the round-of-16 after he registered his third straight win against Luca Nardi to advance. Marozsan broke early on and served for the set at 5-3, only for Nardi to break back and force a tiebreak which the Hungarian duly won. He broke right at the start of the second to win 7-6 6-3.
Nakashima’s consistency makes him a strong favourite to get through against Marozsan. He will look to dictate things early on with his reliable serve and powerful groundstrokes. The Hungarian may offer some resistance with his variety of shots, but that’s unlikely to be as much of a weapon indoors.
