Brandon Nakashima vs Daniil Medvedev prediction
Brandon Nakashima booked his place in the third-round of the Cincinnati Open after a straight sets win over Aleksandar Kovacevic. The American enjoyed one of the best results of his career less than a week ago as he made it through to his first Masters 1000 final in Montreal, where he lost to Ben Shelton in straight sets. Nakashima returned to winning ways with a 6-2 7-5 win, conceding just the one break point overall.
He now faces Daniil Medvedev in the next round. Medvedev was far from his best again but recorded a straight sets win over Marco Trungelliti. He was 5-2 down in the second set and was forced to save two set points, before mounting a comeback to win 6-4 7-5 against the qualifier.
Medvedev leads the head-to-head 3-0 and defeated Nakashima in the final of the Brisbane International earlier this year. Nakashima has been one of the standout players of the North American hard court swing and he has the game to trouble the former world number one, who has struggled in recent months.
