The 27th seed survived a major scare to edge Belgium’s Alexander Blockx 6-4 3-6 7-6 and will now need to come up with a new game-plan to oust the world number three.

Indeed, Zverev has all four of their previous meetings across all three surfaces, including a 7-5 6-4 success in Stuttgart this year.

The German will need to have an off-day for Nakashima to prevail and he has been pretty solid of late, making it a big ask for the American despite being able to call upon the home support.
