Botic van de Zandschulp began his grass court season at the Libema Open last week, but he was unable to advance beyond the first-round as he lost to compatriot Tallon Griekspoor in straight sets. The Dutchman has lost his last four matches on the bounce, and he will be hoping for an upturn in fortunes at Queen’s Club this week. He did reach the semi-finals of this event back in 2022.
He takes on British qualifier Harry Wendelken in the first-round. The 24-year-old defeated Adam Walton in the first stage and then beat Aleksandar Vukic to progress to the main draw. Wendelken edged ahead after a tight first set against Vukic, before racing clear in the second to win 7-6 (7) 6-1. This will be his tour-level debut.
Wendelken has momentum on his side after those fine wins in qualifying, along with home support, but Van de Zandschulp is a firm favourite to advance to the next round.
