Bernarda Pera vs Eva Lys prediction

Bernarda Pera is currently without a victory on the main draw since her first-round victory in the Libema Open over a month ago. Pera’s best result of the season so far was making the quarter-finals in Auckland but she has struggled since then and has failed to get past the second-round of any tournament since except Roland Garros, where she outperformed in reaching the third-round.

Her opponent in the first-round of this event will be Eva Lys. Lys made an impression right at the start of the year at the Australian Open, where she made the fourth-round after also getting through three stages of qualifying. Lys has struggled to be a consistent threat since then, though is coming off the back of a decent showing in Montreal as she made the third-round.

This is their first match on a hard court, but they’ve played each other twice before, with Lys leading 2-0 after two victories on clay, including in Strasbourg earlier this year. Lys is ranked nearly 50 places above her opponent and will want to get another victory on the board after two wins last week in Canada. She should be viewed as a comfortable favourite.
