Bernarda Pera vs Elina Svitolina prediction

Elina Svitolina will face Bernarda Pera for the first time in 12 years at the French Open. 

The Ukrainian won their only previous meeting on the clay in Prague 6-1 3-6 6-4, but it’s hard to suggest that it will have any bearing on this second encounter. 

Svitolina has enjoyed an excellent run on the dirt of late and always enjoys the support of the home crowd as the wife of Gael Monfils.

Pera won’t be overawed, however, having already ended Caroline Garcia’s hopes in her final French Open before taking down Olympic silver medallist and 18th seed Donna Vekic in a deciding set tie-break. 

Number 13 seed Svitolina is playing some of her best tennis in years and although the American world number 83 is enjoying a fine run and delivering in big moments, it’s unlikely she will be able to consistently penetrate the Ukrainian’s defences enough to pull off her biggest surprise yet.
