Benjamin Bonzi began his grass court run with an encouraging showing in Rosmalen, winning four matches in a row to advance to the quarter-finals of the Libema Open after having to qualify. He then dropped down to compete on the Challenger Tour in Nottingham, reaching the last eight once again. He won his first-round match at Wimbledon against former world number one Daniil Medvedev last year.
Gabriel Diallo has struggled for much of the season in terms of form and fitness. However, he was able to end his losing streak at Eastbourne as he came from a set down to beat both Terence Atmane and Tomas Martin Etcheverry. He was expected to be a stern test for Jack Draper in the quarter-finals, but he won just five games and lost in straight sets. However, the Canadian can take encouragement from consecutive wins for the first time since March.
There is little to separate the pair, but if Diallo can continue to serve well, he may just edge this one.
