Ben Shelton vs Nick Kyrgios prediction
Ben Shelton picked up his third title of the season at the Stuttgart Open last week, as he beat Taylor Fritz in the final. This was the second time that Shelton had beaten Fritz in a final in 2026, having also defeated his compatriot at the Dallas Open. The American needed to save match points against Jiri Lehecka in the quarter-finals, but he now has a title on each surface this year.
His first-round opponent is 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios. The Australian returned to the tour for his first match since the Brisbane International in January last week, winning his first match against Corentin Moutet in Stuttgart. He was a set away from the quarter-finals, but he went on to lose to Sho Shimabukuro.
Despite his fitness concerns, Kyrgios will always be competitive on grass with that strong first serve. Shelton is regarded as a firm favourite for this, but it is a match that is likely to be dominated on serve.
Ben Shelton vs Nick Kyrgios tip: Over 23.5 games
