Ben Shelton begins his 2026 season ranked number eight in the world, having achieved a high of five last November. He produced some real highlights in 2025, as he won his first Masters title at the Canadian Open and picked up the fourth most wins at Grand Slams after Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic. This included a run to his second major semi-final at the Australian Open. Shelton’s season dropped off after he sustained an injury at the US Open, but he will be confident of a strong campaign.

He received a bye in round one and now takes on Francisco Comesana. The Argentine produced an encouraging performance in round one of the event as he defeated Valentin Royer in straight sets. Comesana did not even concede a break point as he won 6-4 6-4.

This should be a routine win for Shelton as he starts to prepare for the first major of the season next week.
