Belinda Bencic stretched her winning streak to five matches with a routine triumph in her Hong Kong opener.
The top seed followed up her title in Tokyo with a 6-3 6-4 victory over Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
The Swiss star will now face Yafan Wang after the Chinese came through 6-4 6-7 6-3 against qualifier Maddison Inglis.
This will be their first ever meeting and could pose more of a danger for Bencic than the rankings suggest.
Wang is on the comeback trail after injury and is a former world number 47.
Two of her four tour-level wins have come this month as she begins to rekindle her best tennis, but this test against an in-form Bencic may come a touch too soon in that process.
