Belinda Bencic vs Iga Swiatek prediction
Belinda Bencic advanced to the round-of-16 as her second-round opponent Elise Mertens withdrew from the tournament before their match took place. The Swiss had already swept aside Donna Vekic 6-2 6-2 in the first-round. She won the Abu Dhabi Open in February and got through to the quarter-finals of Indian Wells a month later. Bencic would also go on to make the last four at Wimbledon in July.
She will now face second seed Iga Swiatek. The six-time Grand Slam champion crushed Marie Bouzkova in the previous round, winning 6-1 6-1 after an hour and 19 minutes. She is seeking her fourth title of the season.
Swiatek dominates the head-to-head , leading 5-1 overall and 3-1 on hard courts. They last played against each other in the semi-finals of this year’s Wimbledon, with Swiatek strolling to a 6-2 6-0 win on her way to her first title at SW19. She will look to create opportunities from the start and is well placed to come through this in straight sets.
