Belinda Bencic vs Eugenie Bouchard prediction

Belinda Bencic returns to action for the first time since reaching the semi-finals at Wimbledon and the Swiss star will be hoping to pick up where she left off.

After missing 2024 through injury, Bencic has wasted no time in getting back up to speed and she is playing some excellent tennis this year.

The 28-year-old was a winner at this tournament back in 2015 and she also made the quarter-finals in both 2022 and 2023. She will have plenty of good memories of this event and that will serve her well as she gets under way on Wednesday.

She meets home favourite Eugenie Bouchard in her opening match and the Canadian will be fired up with local support on her side.

Bouchard beat Emiliana Arango in the first round in three sets but Bouchard will know she has to raise her game notably if she is to get past an in-form player like Bencic. Somewhat surprisingly, Bouchard has a poor record at this event having only gone past the second round once in 2016 and with little form behind her, it is hard to see her troubling a player like Bencic right now.

We fully expect Bencic to get off to a winning start and even if she starts slowly as she gets back up to speed, she should have far too much for Bouchard.
