Belinda Bencic vs Donna Vekic prediction

Belinda Bencic was a set away from making the quarter-finals of the China Open last time out, but she was unable to prevent defending champion Coco Gauff from coming back to win. The Swiss has enjoyed some real highs this season, having won the title in Abu Dhabi and got through to the semi-finals of Wimbledon. 

Donna Vekic is her opponent in the first-round of the Wuhan Open. The Croatian’s disappointing season took another slide in Beijing as she lost in the first-round to Cristina Bucsa. Vekic last won consecutive matches at a tournament in April, when she got through to the round-of-16 in Madrid. The season began promising enough, with a run to the fourth-round of the Australian Open putting her ranking at a career best 17 in the world, but she is now down at 69. She has lost 21 of her 33 matches during this campaign.

Bencic also dominates the head-to-head, as she leads 3-1 and 3-0 on hard courts. These past results, along with their contrasting fortunes this season, make Bencic a firm favourite to win in straight sets.
