Belinda Bencic vs Coco Gauff prediction
Belinda Bencic reached the quarter-finals of the Canadian Open for a third time as she ended Alexandra Eala’s winning run with a straight sets victory. Eala was on a seven-match winning streak, having also won the title in Washington last week, but she ran out of steam as Bencic wrapped up a 6-4 6-0 win after just an hour and 13 minutes. Bencic now has a 15-4 win-loss record on hard courts this season.
She faces Coco Gauff next. The two-time Grand Slam singles champion enjoyed a dominant victory in the round-of-16 after she easily defeated qualifier Alina Korneeva. Gauff dropped just four games as she won 6-3 6-1.
Gauff leads 6-2 in the head-to-head and has won the last four meetings. However, each of their past three matches has gone to a deciding set. This has the makings of another close encounter, but Gauff’s superior athleticism and defensive qualities give her more margin when the rallies become extended.
