Beatriz Haddad Maia comes into this one on the back of some poor results, beaten in the first round of a WTA 125k in Figueira da Foz after a qualifying exit to Heather Watson at Queen’s. She has now suffered six successive defeats.
Maria Timofeeva, born in Moscow but now representing Uzbekistan since last October, has qualified for her first Wimbledon. She has previously reached the main draw of two other Grand Slam events, surprisingly reaching the fourth round at the 2024 Australian Open.
