THE TEAM NEWS

DETROIT PISTONS

  • The Pistons face this game as the second of a back-to-back stretch after losing on Monday 120-114 to the Minnesota Timberwolves. With the loss, Detroit have lost three of their last four games with a 4-7 record over their first 11 games of the season.
  • Detroit celebrated the return of Blake Griffin, but they still have several injuries ahead of this contest. Reggie Jackson has been ruled out due to a lower back injury, while Khyri Thomas will be a game-time decision due to a foot problem. Bruce Brown (knee) and Tim Frazier (shoulder) are questionable as well.
  • Andre Drummond has been filling the stat sheet left and right for the Pistons, but Griffin is the one to watch. The skilled power forward, who missed Detroit’s first 10 games of the season, debuted with 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists on Monday against Minnesota.

MIAMI HEAT

  • Miami’s last game came over a week ago when they stumbled to a 15-point loss against Los Angeles Lakers. They have lost two of their last three outings, but Miami still have won three of their last five.
  • The Heat will have four players out for this game in Dion Waiters (suspension), Derrick Jones Jr. (hip), Justise Winslow (concussion) and KZ Okpala (Achilles) while Tyler Herro (ankle) and Kelly Olynyk (knee) are both day-to-day. Needless to say, Miami could be seriously depleted entering this contest.
  • Despite all the absences, Miami will have their best player available in Jimmy Butler. The former Timberwolves, Sixers and Bulls small forward averages 19.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in six games during the regular season.

THE PREDICTION

The Heat might enter this game following a huge loss against the Lakers, but LeBron James’ team should be considered as one of the bonafide title contenders entering the season. Miami have looked better than advertised so far, and one of the main reasons has been a productive offense that averages 120.3 points per game at home. Considering Detroit average 114.8 points against them per contest on the road, all signs point towards Miami scoring heavily towards the win.
