Barbora Krejcikova vs Elena-Gabriela Ruse prediction

Barbora Krejcikova progressed to the last eight at the Libema Open after a straight-forward victory over Hanne Vandewinkel. The two-time Grand Slam champion did not even face a break point as she won 6-1 6-4. The Czech is the last seeded player remaining in the draw.

She will now play Elena-Gabriela Ruse. The Romanian exacted revenge on Elise Mertens for her defeat in last year’s final, cruising to a comfortable win in straight sets. Ruse was largely untroubled as she won 6-3 6-3, inflicting a first defeat over Mertens at the fifth attempt overall. 

Krejcikova has looked sharp in her first tournament back on the grass, but Ruse is likely to be her toughest opponent yet. The 2024 Wimbledon champion leads the head-to-head 2-1, but Ruse did win their most recent meeting at the 2024 US Open. Krejcikova’s variety and pedigree on the grass make her a firm favourite, but Ruse is performing well.
