The ATX Open has proven to be a welcome return to form for Ashlyn Krueger, whose 2026 had begun in rather underwhelming fashion prior to this tournament.
The 21-year-old, who lives in Texas, is clearly enjoying playing in front of her home crowd and is yet to drop a set in her three matches to date, most recently seeing off Yue Yuan 7-6, 6-4 in the quarter-finals.
She takes on fellow American Taylor Townsend, eight years her senior, who battled to a win against Rebeka Masarova in the last eight.
Townsend lost the first set against her Swiss opponent, but then raised her performance levels as she dropped just four games in winning the next two sets.
This is a first career meeting between the two Americans, and we think the more experienced Townsend will just edge this one. Her serve has just been that little more reliable than Krueger, which could be the deciding factor in this contest.
