Marta Kostyuk finally got the better of Emma Navarro to advance to the round of 16 at Wimbledon for the first time.
The Ukrainian continued her exceptional recent form by snaring a maiden triumph versus the American at the fifth time of asking by a 6-2 4-6 6-1 scoreline.
The 12th seed will now face another star from the USA in the shape of qualifier Ashlyn Krueger who ended Daria Snigur’s fine run with a 6-3 6-2 success in under an hour.
Kostyuk will be a heavy favourite here, but Krueger did take down Queen’s champion Donna Vekic earlier in the tournament and the world number 102 also leads 1-0 in the head-to-head having triumphed in three in Adelaide last year.
The American is worth a punt given she has won 16 out of 17 matches on grass over the past month and a bit, and Marta hasn't been as prolific on the turf after enjoying so much success on clay.
