Jessica Pegula’s scintillating form has hit a slight road bump since landing the Charleston title.

The American was surprisingly beaten 6-0 6-4 by Ekaterina Alexandrova in the last eight in Stuttgart and then fell to world number 56 Moyuka Uchijima early on in Madrid.

The third seed will aim to get back on track against her compatriot, 21-year-old Ashlyn Krueger, who is knocking on the door of the world’s top 30.
